Elizabeth Ward was born on November 13, 1985, in Jacksonville, Florida. She lived in Florida for a short time before moving to New Jersey. She lived there for a few years before moving once again to St. Mary's County, Maryland when she was 5 years old.
In elementary school she was known as Beth, however, in middle school, her nickname changed to Liz which has stuck with her ever since. She attended Piney Point Elementary, Greenview Knolls Elementary, Esperanza Middle School, and Great Mills High School. She earned an associate of art in secondary education at College of Southern Maryland in 2006.
She joined Girl Scouts in 1st grade and continued all the way through high school when her troop bought her a lifetime membership as a graduation gift. She served as an assistant troop leader and cookie "mom" the next year before moving on for what she thought was only a temporary break. When she had a son, she did not return to girl scouts at all.
Liz married Michael "Mike" Guy, Jr. on May 26, 2007. He wanted to change his name upon marriage and so she kept her last name. They had a son, Harley, on April 28, 2009. They lived in Lexington Park and Great Mills for a time before settling down in Ridge, Maryland at the end of 2020.
Liz worked various jobs over the years including cashiering at Wal-Mart, Target, and McKays as well as pushing carts at Shoppers. Her love of education was discovered early and she tutored during college and then volunteered with Head Start before finally working part-time with Head Start before becoming a substitute teacher. She soon found a job at Green Holly Elementary School in Pre-K where she has worked happily for several years.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.
Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.
There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.
Please let one of us know if you have questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

You're getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now and collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

You are now a confirmed member and can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. For that reason we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use the site. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow you'll hear from a WikiTree mentor, who will check in to see how you're doing and to answer any questions you might have.
Next week you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.
You can meet some of our members by joining in on our Question of the Week: "Do you have any inventors in your family tree?"
Welcome!
Karen
Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is unlike any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, so we all work together as one collaborative team.
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to tell us about your genealogical interests as you join.
Once you volunteer to help build our global tree, our greeters will confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Welcome to the family! Were really glad youre here.
