Private Jonathan Mulkey served with Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Jonathan Mulkey first married about 1770 in Fairforest Creek,Union County, South Carolina to Nancy Howard (daughter of Obediah Howard and Priscilla Breed). ^{[1] [2]}

In 1776 he was western frontier pioneer in Carter's Valley. ^[3]

From 1785 to 1826 he was the Second Baptist Pastor at the Buffalo Ridge Church. ^[1]
