Private Peter (Schnuck) Snook served with Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.
Peter (Schnuck) Snook is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A106567.
Peter (Schnuck) Snook is an NSSAR Patriot Ancestor. NSSAR Ancestor #: P-293706 Rank: Private
Peter was born in 1744. He was baptized on 12 August 1744 in the Red Hook Lutheran Church, Red Hook, New York.[1] He is the son of Johann Schnuck and Julianna Klie. [1]
Peter married Maria Goss. This union produced eight children, all born either in Amwell or Newton, New Jersey.
Peter Snook relocated to Union (now Snyder) Pennsylvania about 1801. He initially owned land in the Beaver Springs area in the early 1800s. In 1804 he payed taxes in Beaver. [2] Peter then moved to Centre, Pennsylvania where his brothers, William and Martin Snook, resided. Peter moves back to Snyder around 1817 where land records indicate he was the owner of 12 acres.
He passed away in 1818 intestate, in Pennsylvania, and is buried in the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs, Snyder County, Pennsylvania. [3]
Revolutionary War Service Is Disputed. While parts of this Peter Snook record are shown in the SAR and DAR databases (the birth and death years match-up), it appears that his war service may be attributed to "another" Peter Snook, who was born in 1758 at Hunterdon, New Jersey. Thus, the SAR and DAR stickers attached to this record are now conditional. Some of the information on Peter's descendants appears to be correct in the SAR and DAR databases. It is unknown if the Peter of this record was an active participant in the war, but a strong case could probably be made for citing him for Patriotic Service.
It is believed that Peter married (1) Keturah Laish/(Keziah Lash). Peter and Keturah had at least one son named John born Jan 2, 1770 in Sussex New Jersey. Keturah died young. However, the DAR Records seem to disprove this with a Peter Snook born in 1758 not 1744.[4] and the marriage record which indiactes Peter was born in Germany not New York.[5] This marriage record also gives the name as Peter Koonrad Snook with a birth year of 1744 which name is not substantiated.[5]

The name Peter "Koonrad" Snook is found in the Yates publishing genealogical database of marriages - I believe this secondary source comes from a family sheet or older geneaology and can be disregarded until a primary source is identified. I have deleted the nickname and sugget proceeding with the merge.
Schnuck-38 and Snook-343 are not ready to be merged because: I am concerned about the "Koonrad" This is an error that has been perpetuated many places but not based on source information. With it's removal or validation I would approve the merge
Agreed. I removed the nickname "Koonrad" - the only source documentation I could find for its use was a secondary source famiy sheet. please proceed with the merge.
