Patrick Byrne was born in Shankill, County Dublin, Ireland in 1786. His Roman Catholic baptism appears on 26th March 1786, in Kingstown RC Parish, County Dublin. Catholic baptisms in Ireland were rarely more than two or three days after birth, giving a likely birth date in March 1786.
[1]
His parents Charles Byrne and Rose (Prendergast) Byrne were married in Kingstown RC Parish, County Dublin, Ireland on 15th April 1781.
[2]
They had ten children together.
Patrick Byrne was age 23 when he married Anne Woods in Kingstown RC Parish, County Dublin, Ireland on 10th September 1809.
[6]
She was age 25.
[17]
They had seven children together.
Patrick Byrne was a farmer in the townland of Shankill, in the civil parish of Rathmichael, County Dublin, Ireland, on lands at the foot of a mountain called Carrickgollogan, a scenic area overlooking Killiney Bay. In the early 1860s, many evictions took place at the hand of the notorious landlord Sir Charles Compton Domville. Patrick Byrne managed to keep his tenancy, passing it on to his son Matthew Byrne upon his death in 1864. [28]
Death
No date of death appears for his wife Anne (Woods) Byrne. She probably passed away before the introduction of civil death registrations in Ireland in 1864. Patrick Byrne passed away a widower age 78 in Rathdown Union Hospital, Loughlinstown, County Dublin, Ireland on 8th September 1864.

Bibliography
Patrick Byrne is mentioned in Sir Charles Domville and his Shankill estate, County Dublin, 1857-1871, Rob Goodbody (Maynooth Studies in Local History: Number 50, 2003).
P.51 "...A Patrick Byrne of Shankill, aged 80 and described as a labourer, was admitted to the workhouse in August 1864 and died there two weeks later. He may have been described as a labourer in order to get him admitted as Patrick Byrne held 22 acres of land from Domvile. He was not one of those who had been evicted, but was probably admitted solely because of the state of his health. After his death, his son Matthew Byrne was able to increase the area of the holding and the family remained on the property.
No birth or baptism found for Patrick's son Matthew Byrne.
