Reverend Charles Henry Mainwaring, late of Whitmore Rectory, died at Whitmore Rectory on 3 April 1878. His will was proved at Lichfield.[7]

Charles (age 58) was buried on 8 April 1878 in Whitmore, St Mary & All Saints, Staffordshire, England.[8]

From The Mainwarings of Whitmore and Biddulph in the County of Stafford:

Charles Henry, born 1819, educated at Shrewsbury, M.A., Oriel College, Oxford, ordained as priest 1845, took up his residence at the rectory as curate of Whitmore 1846, married 1847, Jane, 4th daughter of the Reverend Sir Henry Delves Broughton, 8th Baronet of Doddington, and was inducted as rector of Whitmore November 1848, on the death of the Reverend John Brazier. He was vice-chairman of the Newcastle Board of Guardians for 30 years, J.P., 1862, and died in 1878, having had issue, [6 sons, 4 daughters].[9]

DEATH OF THE REV. C. H. MAINWARING.
For some time the Rev. C. H. Mainwaring, of Whitmore, has been in failing health, and has been unable to discharge his ministerial and public duties. Mr. Mainwaring has died this week. He was vice-chairman of the Newcastle Board of Guardians, and was a county magistrate. For very, many years his face was familiar on the bench in connection with the petty sessional magistrates' meetings for Pirehill North division of Staffordshire, held at Keele in years gone by, in alternation with Newcastle, but latterly at Newcastle exclusively.[10]
