Doug has been an active member of WikiTree since July 2023. He began entering into WikiTree genealogical data he discovered on his father's computer and in his files. He later gathered genealogy information that his wife's family had and included those data.
His father's material was in a software tool called "Gramps", in random paper files, old letters, and both annotated and unannotated photographs. At first, he entered the data into Ancestry.com, but later discovered WikiTree. Within the paper files was evidence of ancestors on a couple of family lines that had been doing genealogy, at least since the early 1900s.
Doug worked as a civilian for 40 years with the U.S.A.F. Aside from genealogy interests he enjoys occasional fishing, piddling (in the yard and in garage/workshop), pick-up basketball (though age is making this much less frequent and much less intense), and time with family. He is active in church related activities and has participated in mission work in the West Indies and South America. [1]

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!
It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
