Willem Willemsen Crom was born circa 1600-1605 in the Netherlands, most likely at Opijnen, Gelderland. The earliest known record of him is from 1630, when the Chimney Tax Register of Opijnen showed Willem Willemsen Crom as owner of 1 chimney and 1 oven. He probably had married by about 1625, based on the apparent ages of his four sons, who were of age (i.e., at least age 25) in 1660.[1]
On 26 May 1646 Willem Willemsen Crom purchased a half morgen of orchard in Opijnen from Cornelis Petersen [Ruyter], the husband of Mericken Dircx, widow of his Willem's deceased brother Gijsbert Willemsz. Crom, and sold other property on behalf of the Gijsbert's underage children, for whom he was guardian.[2]
Willem died before 31 January 1660 when his adult sons Willem Willemsen, Dirck Willemsen, Arien Willemsen, and Floris Willemsen Crom were recorded in a property transaction.[3]
LNAB: Ten Eyck cites Dutch records that [apparently] call him Crom, so that is his LNAB. Smith-62120 22:16, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
