Born to parents who migrated from London to Australia following WW2, I have lived most of my life in Melbourne, Victoria. I am now almost retired having been a high school teacher early on, followed by decades working for a government agency in health and community service programs.

I've had very little contact with my relatives but my parents gave me some names and various pieces of paper with their attempts to create a family tree. My interest has developed and have found hundreds of relations and visited places where they lived. My ancestors are mostly from the east end of London, and more recently I have discovered French and Danish links many generations ago.

I joined Wikitree to hone my genealogical skills and work in a community.

Hi Phil,

I see that you are creating pre-1700 profiles though Gedcom upload right now. Thanks for adding to the tree! However, some of the imported profiles only have a FamilySearch user-contributed tree as a source (see, for instance, Shapland-105, Shapland-104, and so on). Sources meeting the standards for pre-1700 profiles will need to be added (see, for instance, questions 2,3 and 4 of the pre-1700 self-certification quiz. I'm sure you plan to do this later, but with pre-1700 profiles it's important to do it before creating more profiles .... Thank you! Isabelle

Hi Phil

Thanks for your message regarding the links.

Sometimes the links don't work in emails, check the comments on your profile, links will work from there.

If you open your profile page and click on the links in my previous comment you will see the project page.

Thanks

Janet ~ Pre~1700 Greeter

Hi Phil

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects coordinating them is essential. Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations. Citations & links for sources enable verification of data please add from wiki ID go to Research to find sources

The United Kingdom would be of interest. Adding the tag United_Kingdom will help you get updates about the project.

Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals & tasks of the project join if it fist.

Any questions please ask

I have been researching my ancestry for several years mainly using on line services. I have found some very old relations - 11 generations! I'm interested in sharing information and filling out some gaps. I support the mission and agree to abide by the community's rules.
