Nanette, I am David Clounch 3rd, named after David J Clounch (born David J Claunch in 1797) to William Claunch and Betsy Alvis. William's father was Jeremiah Claunch who bought land on Eastland Creek in 1783. This Jeremiah is therefore my 5th GGF. I believe he is Jeremiah 3rd, born around 1752? son of Jeremiah 2nd. (this latter is theoretical only, but makes sense due to various factors).

Jeremiah 2nd , if he was born about 1734 (to the immigrant and his 2nd wife Mack) would have been 18 years old when Jeremiah 3rd was born. And they lived near or on the family land purchased on Allens Creek in 1744. Jeremiah 2nd moved west toward the blue ridge. The farm of the immigrant was sold in 1758, but they may have stayed a few years.

This may mean John Franklin and Barnet are brothers of my 5th GGF jeremiah 3rd. It is rumored John Franklin was born in Lunenburg in 1760. That means they didnt move west until after 1760. I DNA match descendants of John Franklin. I also DNA match descendants of the other children of the immigrant who moved to North Carolina during the 1750's.

The Claunch family west of Lunenburg are something I will study in 2021. Jeremiah 3rd moved back to grandpa's home town in 1782/1783. And had a bunch of kids. I am looking at their descendants now. But i also know and chat with descendants of John Franklin who is not from Jeremiah 3rd. Unless he had two families in two different counties 100 miles apart because he was superman. ;) The records are sort of sparse.

Before his death in 2007' my daddy and his brother spent many weekends traveling to several states trying to find out more about their family and how they came to be in America. They learned lots but had gaps and dead ends. March of 2013' I decided to try and finish what he started. Mostly finding the same dead ends I'm determined to learn all I can.
