Biography

Ingrid's date of birth is not known, although a guess could be made around the 1480:s.

Ingrid Andersdotter, of Hov, in Hällstad parish, Ås hundred, and possibly also of Tråvad in Tråvad parish, Skånings hundred.[1][2] She inherited Hov from her father, and resided there as a widow between 1526 and 1533.[3]. Östenson supports the idea that Ingrid of Hov is the same as Ingrid of Tråvad, known in 1540 (and thus establishing her date of death after this point): Tråvad was inhabited by Ingrid's sister Ragnhild who became the mother of Erik Persson (Lilliehöök) of Tråvad.[4][5] Further, in 1540, Ingrid of Tråvad seized a meadow that belonged to Tiarp's church, which meadow was located in the parish of Fårdala.[6][7]

Parentage

Her paternity is established by Rålambska Samlingen, fol. 12, p. 194, which states that she was the daughter of Anders Persson (stjärna) and that he was the maternal grandfather of Olof Bosson and Anders Bosson (oxhuvud).[4] She must, additionally, have inherited the estate of Hov from her father,[3] who is known to have resided there 14 August 1482, and who received it formally from his second cousin on 25 March 1487.[8][9] The estate of Hov, along with that of Säby, was then inherited by Ingrid's son, Olof Bosson (oxehufvud).[8][3] Furthermore, an estate in the possession of Anders Persson's father-in-law was stated to be inherited by Anders Bosson through his grandmother (i.e. Anders Persson's wife). A document dated 21 February 1455 at Vadstena establishes the inheritance of Esbjörn Baath's heirs by his (deceased) wife Ingrid Pedersdotter, including the estates of Fårdala and Kattunga.[4][10] The estate of Kattunga, which Anders Bosson "...rettelige ärffth haffuer effter min salige modermoder..." [...rightfully inherited from my deceased mother's mother...], is then, in a document dated 24 August 1556 at Uddetorp, exchanged by him for Ringestena in Kinds hundred.[4][11] Although there were four estates in Kattunga, during this period, two were owned by unrelated people and the third by Anders Bossons maternal cousin, meaning that by way of elimination, the estate at Kattunga in Anders' possession must be the same that was, about a century earlier, in the hands of Esbjörn Bååt.[4][12] Consequently, these documents also support the statement that Ingrid's mother was Kristina Esbjörnsdotter (båt), daughter of Esbjörn Baath (båt) and his wife Ingrid Pedersdotter (Bååt). This latter argument also appears to supersede Östenson's own objections made in 1975 which suggested that Kristina Esbjörnsdotter would have been too old to be Ingrid Pedersdotter's daughter.[7]

Marriage

It is, according to Östenson, possible that a long-standing tradition among the descendants of Anders Persson is the reason that the pedigrees in the House of the Nobility correctly reflect Ingrid's marriage to Bo Olofsson (oxhuvud), and that she was the mother of Olof and Anders.[13][14][2] Further support for Ingrid being the mother of Bo Olofsson's (oxhuvud) children, comes from the omission of said children from Hans Brask's enumeration of the descendants of Bengt Bengtsson Krabbe, who was the father of Bo Olofsson's first wife Magdalena.[15][16]. The same omission is also present in a pedigree written around 1545-1550,[17] which states that "...Bengt Krabbe hade enn dotter heett Maderlinn, och honn feck enn man heet Boo Olzsonn, och the hadhe enn sonn heet Iöns Bosonn." [...Bengt Krabbe had a daughter called Maderlinn, and she got a man called Boo Olzsonn, and they had a son called Iöns Bosonn.][18] It is not known if the latter depended on the former when it was written. Given that the estate of Hov passed to Olof Bosson, and Säby to Anders Bosson[19] (Ingrid's children), and that these same estates were previously known to be in the possession of Anders Persson, their maternal grandfather, we can be sure that Ingrid Andersdotter was certainly their mother.[4] Finally, and in addition to Östenson's research, it is also noteworthy that the onomastics of Ingrid's children fit in well with her being their mother: her son Olof named for his paternal grandfather, Anders named for his maternal grandfather, the daughter Ingrid named after her mother, and the son Jöns being the unknown quantity. Given that Bo Olofsson's precedessors are entirely unknown, it is possible that he could be named for an otherwise unknown great-grandfather on his father's side.

Children

  • Olof Bosson, of Hov in Hällstad parish, known from 1528.[3][20]
  • Anders Bosson, of Säby in Vings parish; d. 1569.[19]
  • Ingrid Bosdotter, q.v.
  • Jöns Bosson, the younger, known from 1550.[20]

Research Notes

Note that Anders Persson, and his children including Ingrid, have been erroneously included in the article for the Stierna/Stjerna family by Elgenstierna and Anrep.[8][21][22][23]
