Biography

Born 21st May 1964 in Hammersmith Hospital.

Grew up in the Notting Dale area of Notting Hill in Kensington, London.

In 1990 added mother's maiden surname Bosano.

Married in 1995 to Aine McAdam at Chelsea Register Office, Kings Road, Chelsea.

Moved to Ireland in June 1997 and currently resident in Ardee, Co Louth, Ireland.

In June 2021 became a citizen of Malta in addition to UK citizenship.

Areas of Interest

I'm lucky in the diversity of my ancestry. My paternal ancestry is English , with the sole exception of an 18th century Scottish line. My maternal ancestry however is a smorgasbord of the Mediterranean.

Gibraltar was pretty much the melting pot of southern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, and my ancestry from there is also a reflection of Gibraltarian history. I've often thought that the reason I'm alive is because of the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht.

My lines via Gibraltar are, Spain (Andalusia, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Canaries), Italy (Genoa, Savona) Portugal, France (Corsica), Malta and either Ireland or Scotland.

My Gibraltarian ancestry is completely mapped out, I have traced every one of my direct ancestors born in Gibraltar.

My largest branch by far is my Maltese one, this is ever growing with one line stretching back to the 1490s, but many lines extend well into the 16th century, largely centered around the town of Birkirkara.

I have many brick walls and if anyone can help with my Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Corsican lines please reach out.

Identification

I identify as European, based on my ancestry and the fact that I'm a citizen of two European countries whilst being resident in a third one.

Y DNA

My Y DNA Hapologroup is R-BY77000.

This was formed as a new sub clade below R-Z17121 and is shared on FTDNA with two other people.

mt DNA

My mtDNA Haplogroup is K1a1

I form a new unamed branch of K, it is K1a1 with T199C T204C A12612G C16184T and C16218T, it has two known members on FTDNA including myself, and we are both of Maltese descent.

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Eddie,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Eddie,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
