Hezekiah had several children with his first wife Nancy, although the census records prior to 1850 only provided the gender and age ranges of family members rather than names. [4][5][6]. The 1820, 1830, and 1840 census records showed that Hezekiah and his family resided in Halifax, Virginia along with several enslaved persons.
The 1850 census shows Heziekiah's widow Rachel still residing in Halifax, Virginia with her children and step-children [7]:
Based on their 1842 marriage date, Betsy is likely Rachel's only biological children with Hezekiah.
Hezekiah Blankenship-4444 was a slaveholder throughout his life:
The 1810 census lists 9 free white persons and a total of 10 household
The 1820 census lists 5 enslaved persons - 4 male and 1 female [4]
The 1830 census lists 7 enslaved persons - 5 male and 2 female [5]
The 1840 census lists 6 enslaved persons - 5 male and 1 female [6]
Hezekiah's records as a slaveholder have been added to The Beyond Kin Project. (Search for Slaveholder using last name only for best results.) [10]
Hezekiah served as a Private in the 8th Volunteer Cavalry, Confederate Army, in the U.S. Civil War [11]. He was killed in action on October 10, 1863, and was buried in the Memphis, Tennessee National Cemetery [12][13].

Blankenship-1933 and Blankenship-1676 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates. Birth and death dates on both profiles are estimates, but close enough to be the same person. Blankenship-1676 was created first and should be the surviving profile, however it does not contain a biography or sources. Bio and sources from Blankenship-1933 should be retained after the merge.
Blankenship-4444 and Blankenship-1933 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death locations, same wife Nancy Bowling. Birth and death dates differ somewhat, but I believe these are the same people.
