Notes & Clues

Donnie Alan Blackstone, thank you for all your comments. Please have a look at the write-up by Jerry Castleman in https://www.dropbox.com/s/syw5ztw3ogu1kcv/scan0001.pdf?dl=0, page 3 & 4:

The 1830 US Census for Tuscaloosa County, Alabama shows two men named William Brazele (sic) residing fairly near each other. (See image 85 of 114):

1. William, age 40-50 and a wife age 30-40, with six living children. One male under age 5. Two males age 5-10 One female under age 5. One female age 5-10. One female age 10-15.

This first William is considered to have written his LW&T 19 October 1843 in Tuscaloosa County, which did not name a wife but did name his children:

Lilly, Cobb Rachel Ernaline Guin Louisa Elizabeth Breazeale. Joel Henry Breazeale.

2. A second William and Mary Brazele (sic), both age 40-50 is listed with eleven surviving children in Tuscaloosa County. According to descendants of William and Mary Hargrove, they had fifteen children, with eleven, as listed herein: (See image 87 of 114)

Three males under age 5. Two males age 5-10. Two males age 10-15. One female under age 5. Three females age 5-10.

I am VERY SURE I am the "According to descendants of William and Mary Hargrove, they had fifteen children..." I strongly believe the William related to the 1843 will is the "other" William.

To be very clear, the above document lists William Breazeale has having parents of Joel Marshal BRAZEAL and Rebecca GRIFFIN, with William being born ca 1785 in Cumberland Co, NC. I think this is false for my William and true for the "other" William. My William was born in 1787 in NC. Finding everything for both Williams is the only way to unravel this situation. While we are at it let's find out who the T. Brazele is too!

Here is a family tree ( https://www.stapco.com/names/d0632/I53317.html ) showing William Breazeale to be the son of Joel Marshall Breazeale and Rebecca Griffin; however, the same website ("The Genealogy of the Gentle House of Stapleton") lists William as the father of Hosea Bright Breazeal. Wikitree lists Hosea's mother as Nancy (Breazeal) Lawless, and father an unknown Native American (who is the subject of my current search). As you see above, Nancy and William are sister and brother, sharing the same parents (Joel Breazeale and Rebecca Griffin). Most confusing. (I had originally posted this under Breazeale-403)
