Biography

John was born in the small fishing village of St Combs, in Aberdeenshire. He was a fisherman, and married a local girl, Jean Bruce. They had at least 8 children [source: censuses 1841-1861 ^{[1] [2] [3]} ]. The boys were most probably fishermen.

John died on the 19th of February 1889 and was buried at Lonmay Old Kirkyard.^[6]
