Note: not to be confused with Buys-1064 whose baptism lists his father as Jacob Buys.

Johannis (John) Buijs / Bice / Boyce, a son of Abraham Buys as per the following baptism record:

Baptism: Sleepy Hollow baptism record for Johannis Aug. 30 1745, #1170 in Cole, gives dob and lists father as Abraham Buys. Witnesses were Johannis Duyster and Muno [paternal aunt]. [1]

Burial: Old Dutch Burial Ground ((Find a Grave lists 1743- 3 Apr 1832 (aged 88–89)) Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York [2]

Buys-1064 and Buijs-214 are not ready to be merged because: They have the same baptism record, but they have different mothers. I haven't looked closely, but I don't see what evidence there is for either mother (Rachel Storm or Engeltje Storm).

Hi Ellen, actually the baptism records are different. It now seems to me that the military, marriage data all belongs to Buys-1064.

Do you agree? perhaps Karyl and / or Walt can comment before we edit this ...

I have no particular interest in researching this family. I was looking for the profile of another man with this name, and I noticed the two profiles with the same name and birth date and possibly the same baptism witnesses. I had the impression that both profiles showed a father named Jacob or Jacobus, but I guess I was just confused on that point.

I marked the profiles as an unmerged match to alert people with an interest in this family to the confusing situation. If these really are two distinct persons with different baptism records at Sleepy Hollow Church (and possibly other later-life records), then the two profiles should be edited to include complete and detailed citations so the distinction will be clear.
