Birth: May 21, 1721 East Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA Death: Jun. 9, 1801 Hunter don County, New Jersey, USA

Japhet Byram headstone states his name as Jeptha Byram esq. Genealogy on him has been under the name Jephet. This is why I have listed his nickname as Japtha until I find which is correct.

  • Buried at Presbyterian Cemetery, Sparta, NJ. Reported to have had children from each of his four wives. The top of his tombstone states:

Japhet Byram siblings are: Jepthah, Ebenezer, Eliab, Japhet, Naphtali, Hannah, Mary, Abigail Alden Byram.

Japhet Byram married Sarah Allen on December 13, 1742 in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. Sarah Allen is the daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Reed) Allen. Japhet Byram and Sarah Allen child is: Sarah Byram b. 1744 Sarah Byram died on the same day as her mother.

Japhet Byram married 2nd wife Unknown Conklin on 1746. Japhet Byram and Unknown Conklin child is: Nicholas Byram b. 1747

Japhet married 3rd wife Elizabeth Tappan on January 10, 1754. Records of the Presbyterian Church of Hanover, Morris Co., New Jersey state" "Japhet Byram and Elizabeth Tappan were married 10 Jan. 1754 by the Pastor, Rev. Jacob Green".

Japhet Byram and Elizabeth Tappan children are: Japhet Byram Jr. b. 1753 Hannah Byram b. 1756 Elizabeth Byram b. 1760 (Twin) Rebecca Byram b. 1760 (Twin) Elizabeth and Rebecca Byram were twins. Elizabeth Byram died young.

Japhet Byram married 4th wife Mrs. Mary Chamberlain on 1762. Mrs. Mary Chamberlain was the widow of Benjamin Chamberlain. Japhet Byram and Mrs. Mary Chamberlain children are: Ruth Byram b. 1763 Seth Benjamin Byram b. 1765 Mary Byram b. 1767

Japhet Byram served as a Revolutionary Solider. Japhet was a Private in the Morris Co., Militia. He received certificate No. 168, amounting to 1.7.2 Pounds, for the depreciation of his Continental Pay.

Some authorities claim Japhet died at the home of his son Nicholas in Byram Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. Japhet moved to New Jersey with his father, Ebenezer.
