  • GISA records indicate that Pieter was not legally married, had various "wives" and lived in the George area. In 1790 he was a fairly well-off farmer. Pieter was listed as a member of the Church at George 18/10/1815. His children were all baptised much later in life. [2]

Du Buijs-3 and Búijs-577 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicates. Both are protected. Baptismal spelling needs to be the target profile, even if it has the higher number.

See the comment of Ian below: "Buys, Buijs, de Buys or De Buys?" - I would suggest protecting the spelling with Bùijs - the dot above the 'y' indicates that the spelling of the 'ij' was not yet completely transformed into the Afrikaans 'y ' ...
