Biography

Alphonse was the elder of the twin sons of Louis VIII, King of France, and his wife, Blanche of Castile, who were born 26 January 1213 at Lorrez-le-Bocage in the Gâtinais (now Seine-et-Marne). Alphonse and the younger twin Jean, both died young and were buried in the chancel of Collegial Church of Notre Dame de Poissy (chœur de l'église collégiale Notre Dame de Poissy).

The date Alphonse died is unknown, but it was probably before November 1220, when a younger brother was also named Alphonse.
