Biography

Jean was born about 1751. He is the son of Alexis Cormier and Madeleine Daigre.

Jean, at around age 4, was recorded in the 1755 census at Aulac with his father and his step-mother whose name is unknown. [1][2][3]

Jean and his parents were deported from Chignecto. "...they traveled on the Edward Cornwallis, which departed 13 October 1755 and arrived at South Carolina 17 November 1755. However, they were not allowed to disembark until 4 December 1755. Alexis and his second wife most probably died in South Carolina." [3]

Jean, an orphan, was on a list of Acadians in South Carolina dated 12 August 1763 with his aunt Anne Cormier and her husband Marin LeBlanc. [4]

He married Elisabeth Morel, daughter of Jean Baptiste Morel and Agnes Danigrand, on 6 February 1783, at Jean-Rabel, Saint-Domingue, (Haiti). [4]
