Thomas Cornell and Annatje Wiltsie had children baptized in Jamaica, Queens County, New York, which was New Amsterdam at the time. The records are written in Dutch, recorded in the Dutch Reformed Church of Jamaica:
NOTE: Jerome Wiltsie's book reports that Mary Cornell was baptized 9 oct 1721. The Dutch Reformed Church shows a Marytie baptized to Jan Cornell and Anatie on 1 dec 1721.[8] This may be a scribal error, or it may be that a second Cornell family was living there at the time. In favor of the scribal error is that the witness matches that of some of the other Cornell children's baptism.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
Hello Andrew, 6th cousin 1x removed! Is there a reason this Thomas Cornell’s birthplace is Yorkshire, England? Find a Grave says Queens County, New York. Knowing the Suggestions, it’s probably in there about not matching. Do you want to change it?
Should I be putting the husbands’ surnames on for the Wiltsie women if that was not their custom? My husband is 100% Finnish, and it was not their way either. My daughter has been working on that tree on Ancestry.
Thank you for the many thanks as I’ve been adding info for this limb of the tree. After this, I go back to untangling Randalls and Brocks. Plus the small amount for my father’s side.
Enjoyed reading your profile!
I adopted this profile but noticed the change in birthplace was done by another contributor March 25, 2017 with no reason is there a good source possibly for his birthplace?
LNAB I’m no expert on but I do know in many cultures the women do not have their husbands name. So I would refer to Name Field Guidelines also a good question to be asked in the g2g as I’ve found very helpful.
My Wiltse connection is thru my GG grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Wiltse) Nissen (1858 - 1919) but haven’t been able to focus on this surname lately a very interesting part of my direct lineage which goes into possible Canada and Vermont but definitely Minnesota.
I just noticed you have a shared surname besides Wiltse. That being “Card” I have this name in my family direct lineage. See my 6th GG Amy (Card) Babcock (abt. 1744 - abt. 1783) how neat is that!
