Biography

Marie Marthe Daigre was born about 1736 in Pisiguit, Acadia, Colony of Nova Scotia, daughter of Charles Daigle and Françoise Doucet.

Marie married Casimir LeBlanc (born in Grand-Pré, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia; son of Jacques LeBlanc and Cecile Dupuis) in 1757 likely in Ile Saint-jean (now Prince Edward Island). [1]

Casimir and Marie did not escape the second wave of deportations that took place on Ile Saint-Jean and Ile Royale in 1758. They were among the 342 passengers who were put aboard the Duke William, bound for France. Also on board was Casimir's father Jacques, his brother Dominique with his wife and children. Close to half of the passengers, 146, did not survive the horrific conditions on board and died at sea. Twenty nine died at hospital within 2 months of arrival in Saint-Malo on 1 November 1758. [2]

Marie died on 17 September 1816 in Church Point, Colony of Nova Scotia. [1]
