Mary (Dick) Long was born about 1810 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, United States, daughter of Harmon Dick (~1755–1825) and Eva Margaretha (Höh) Dick (1775–1839).
Polly died on 10 May 1889 in Cherryhill Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States, aged about 78.[1][2] She was buried in Diamondville Cemetery, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

Mary Dick is named in the will of her father, Harmon Dick and listed, together with his full siblings, in a deed dated 13 December 1828 between them and their mother, in which they sold their rights to Harmon Dick's estate for $1800. Mary was not yet married at the time of the 1828 deed.
She is named as "Polly intermarried with Jacob Stilser" in the 24 Dec 1839 Indiana County Orphan's Court intestate record pertaining to her mother, Margaret.
