Jean Pierre Marin Dugas was born on 21 October 1773 and was baptized the same day at Saint-Servan, Bretagne (now in Ille-et-Vilaine department), France. He was the son of exiled Acadians Marin Dugas and Marie Françoise Boudreau. [2]
In September 1784 his widowed mother was on a list of Acadians in Nantes, France, who wished to go to Louisiana. However no children are listed, and no total in family listed either.[3]
Jean-Pierre and his mother immigrated to Louisiana aboard Le Bon Papa and disembarked in New Orleans on 29 July 1785. [4]
He married Françoise-Rose Arsement on 12 May 1794 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. [5]
They were listed on a census in 1810 in Assumption. [6]
Pierre Marin is age 36, his wife Francoise Rose ARSEMENT is around 34 (not 16-25). Their son is Basile, age 8. Daughters are: Constance Pelagie, age 12; Rosalie, age 10 (not 0-9); Clemence Marguerite, age 5; Marie Adele, age 3; and Azelie Louise, age 4 months.
He died on 30 October 1832 in Lafourche and was buried on the same day in Thibodaux. [7]
