Biography

Azelie was the daughter of Phillipe Paul Fontenot and Helene Ellen Louis Fuselier.

The SWLR CD transcription gives her birthdate as 24 March 1833. [1] The SWLR CD gives her sister Eugenie's birthdate as 17 Sep 1832. These dates are obviously too close together, so perhaps Azelie was actually born a year or two later. [2]

Azelie married Alexandre Marcelin Deshotels on 20 May 1851 in Opelousas, Louisiana. [3]

Alexandre died sometime before July 1853. [4]

Azelie then had at least one child with Jean Baptiste Bertrand in 1856. [5]

She was living with her parents in 1860. [6]

Jean Baptiste married her sister Eugenie in 1861. [7]
