Biography

Fidèle Goguen was born on 6 Jun 1847 and baptized on 13 Jun 1847 in Cocagne, New Brunswick, the son of Pierre Goguen and Rosalie Bellefontaine.^[1][2] His godparents were Hilarion Gueguen and Marie Bellefontaine.

Fidèle married Madeleine Landry, daughter of Denis Landry and Françoise McGrath, on 25 Nov 1867 in Cocagne.^[3][4] A dispensation was granted for 3 or 4 degrees of consanguinity (they were 3rd cousins through Joseph Goguen and Anne Arseneau, view relationship). Their children were:

1. Leocade Goguen, born about 1871 (could she be Leocadie Goguen, daughter of Laurent Goguen, whose mother died in 1871?)
2. Thomas Dysart or Goguen, born 17 Sep 1882 (adopted)

In the 1891 census Fidele (age 43) lived in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[7] He lived with his wife Madeleine (47) and an eight-year-old lodger, Thomas Dysart.

In the 1901 census Fidele (age 54) lived in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[8] His date of birth was given as 18 May 1846. He lived with Madeline (57) and son Thomas (18).

In the 1911 census Fidele (age 64) and his wife Madeleine lived in Dundas Parish, Kent, New Brunswick.^[9]
