Research Notes
This line may descend from the first Goode in America, John, born 1620-30 Whitby, Cornwall, England, died 1709 "Whitby", Henrico Co, VA, the Goode family seat just across the James River and down from Richmond a mile or so (demolished ca 1870 and burial ground not found, but indicated on the Delorme map of the area. The couple had 12 children including a Robert, Thomas and Joseph, but no Edward, and none connected to those in your records. An excellent Goode source is "Virginia Cousins", G. Brown Goode, ca 1886.
A lot of people, even back then, chose to use a middle name rather than a first name. Hence the Formal & preferred, even nicknames.
