Biography

Marie was born about 1740. She is the daughter of Joseph Hebert and Isabelle Benoit.

In 1752 the family was recorded on the La Roque census at Pointe-à-la-Jeunesse, Ile Royale (now Cape Breton), Acadie. [1]

    Joseph EBERT [sic], ploughman, native of la Cadie, aged 42 years, married to Cecile NANSON [sic, for MELANSON], aged 48 years.
    They have 7 children, three sons and four daughters:
    Joseph EBERT, aged 17 years;
    Xavier, aged 13 years;
    Baptiste, aged 7 years;
    Anne Joseph, aged 17 years;
    Françoise, aged 13 years;
    Marie, aged 12 years;
    Isabelle, aged 8 years.
    In livestock they own 1 ox, 1 cow and 2 pigs.
