I was adopted at birth via a private adoption, in Oneonta, Alabama in 1960. My biological mother was Peggy C. Messer - Hardin-Henry. She passed away in 2000 according to info I have found. I think my bio father is Billy Baxter Moore, they were not married and I'm not certain he knows about me. Peggy had at least two more children after me, I was told there was a boy, Raymond and a girl, Susie but I've not found any information on either. I'd like to find siblings and cousins and of course health information.

Hi Terri

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to continue adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. 24 hours after you connect to an existing profile, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches which relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions and have fun!

Hi Terri,

I see that you mentioned adoption in your tags/bio. By adding your branches to our shared tree, there may be an opportunity for someone to find you!

Adoptees: How to Set Up Your Profile is a WikiTree help page specifically designed for new members who indicate they are adoptees. It is also helpful for non-adopted members who have living adoptees in their family tree. The page includes links to more resources, like our Adoption Angels Project, basic search techniques, information on DNA, etc.
