This comment is being revised (on 25 October 2019) to become an open letter to all the members who posted notes (now deleted as obsolete) over a period of months, pleading for the project to merge two duplicate profiles for this woman.

The project was aware that these were duplicates, but we don't like to merge profiles when we think the LNAB might be wrong.

The duplicate profiles were in Category: New Netherland Settlers Project Needs LNAB because they didn't have sources to determine the person's LNAB. As the category description states: "The profiles in this category need to have their earliest church records located and transcribed so that it can be used by the New Netherland Settlers project to determine the correct last name at birth (LNAB) for the profile, following the policy outlined in the project's naming convention. Many church books are linked from Baptism and Marriage Records of the Dutch Reformed Church in America."

Members anxious to complete the merge could have done a wonderful service by doing the research to determine the LNAB. At a minimum, you could have documented the places you looked unsuccessfully to find records.

After trying with limited success to find this woman in the sources cited in the profile, I found her baptism record quoted in the Brouwer Genealogy Database website, which is one of the sources discussed on Space:New Netherland Settlers Project Reliable Sources, and I edited the page to cite that source and provide details on her baptism record. As I had suspected the name on the record was not "Hendrickson" (the name used on the duplicate profiles you were so eager to merge) but "Hendricksen." By changing the LNAB before doing the merge, we avoided one needless redirection step for some of the links to her former profiles.

Now you are invited to continue improving her profile using other good information found in her entry in the Brouwer Genealogy Database. The project protection is intended to protect the LNAB of Hendricksen; it does not prevent you from editing.

Hendrickson-1260 and Hendrickson-245 do not represent the same person because: Jannetje and Annetje are different people.

Removed the false mother Neeltje Roelfse Schenck , who has no connection or relation to the father, so appears to have been a manual error a few years ago.

The correct mother is connected in the match.

Couwenhoven-54 and Hendrickson-245 appear to represent the same person because: She was nee Hendrickson, she married two Wm Couwenhovens by whatever spelling of Covenhoven or Couwenhoven. See text I've been adding...
