Engel Lovisa was born June 18, 1803, at Rågåkra in the parish of Hejde as the daughter of Hindric Jacobsson and Engel Caisa Claesdotter. She was christened June 21 and her godparents were the sheriff Haderstedt from Dalhem, the farmer Olof in Rågåkra, the son Gustaf at Dans, the farmer Nils at Medebys, the wife Lovisa at Forse, and demoiselle Beckman at Klinte.[1]
Engel was the youngest of the children. The family soon moved to her mother's home at Valla in the parish of Klinte.[2] There three more children were born. Hindrick died in 1819 leaving the widow with six children where the two eldest were adults and therefor able to take over the farm.[3]
Family
December 14, 1824, Engel married the widower and sheriff Zachris Johannes Winter. He lived at Ockes in the parish of Öja, where they were married.[4] Together they have five children.
September 23, 1841, Engel married the sergeant and farmer Lorentz Ockander from the neighboring farm..[10] Lorentz was the brother of Zackris first wife and also the godparent of the oldest child Johan Henrik. Engel was at the time of the marriage already pregnant and she and Lorentz had three children together;
Gustaf Oscar Ockander (1841-1863)[11] Was working as a farmhand on a farm in the parish of Klinte when he died only 21 years old.[12]
Frans Ekerhard Ockander (1843- )[13] Belived to have emigrated to America around 1866.[14]
Carolina Christina Ockander (1846- ) married buildingmaster A. P. Nyberg.
Death and Burial
Engel died June 10, 1855, and was buried June 14.[15]
