Biography

Drapeau identifiant les profils du Canada, Nouvelle-France
Marie (Hus) Hü lived
in Canada, Nouvelle-France.

Marie Hü / Hus was the daughter of Paul Hue (later Hus / Hû) and Jeanne Baillargeon. Marie's actual baptismal record is not available but she was baptized on 31 August 1683 at Sorel, and her surname was later reflected by indexers using the "standardized" spelling of Hus. [1] [2] [3]

Note re names:
- While the family's surname has often been standardized as Hus and indexers used that name for Marie, the actual act of her baptism is not shown – and in some cases indexers created "répertoires" listing the surname as Hus, when in fact the baptismal record reflected something different. For example, the baptismal répertoire for her sister Jeanne in 1680 lists her surname as Hus – but her actual baptismal record (which is available) clearly shows the name as Hü.
- In Marie's case, the first record for which an original is available is her marriage, and she too was clearly reflected as Marie Hü.
- See references and Research Notes below regarding names appearing in records.

Her parents Nouvelle-France pioneer Paul Hue (later Hus) and Jeanne Baillargeon had fifteen children, and although several passed away early (as was not uncommon), nine of them would eventually go on to marrry into families in the Sorel region. (Note: in many cases indexers "standardized" their surname as Hus in "répertoires" (shown as (std) below) - although original records often reflected other spellings (shown in [brackets] below) - and dit names began in use for many of their children). Research Notes

Note re: names and guidelines:

References and notes regarding his father's original surname in Normandy (which was Hue) - as well as variations of that introduced in Nouvelle-France, including Hué, Hus, Hü and Hû (as his father Paul was later known and eventually buried) - are provided in the Research Notes of his father's profile: Paul Hue (later Hus / Hû).
