John Jarrett is listed as son of Owen and Elizabeth (Vincent) Jarrett, said to be born March 1816 according to 1900 census. Ages in census records vary as to birth year - 1850 age 30 (b. 1819-20); 1860 age 42 (b. 1817-1818); 1880 age 63 (b. 1816-17). 1900 age 84 b. March 1816. 1910-age 93. Married Katy (Catherine) Price the daughter of Edmund Price. They were married about 1842. (Marriage date based on 1900 census showing them md. 58 yrs) But 1840 census shows couple 1 m 20-30 1f 15-20.

Census records also show that Catherine gave birth to 11 children but by 1900, only 11 were living. Morris & Jarretts of WV lists 7 children: Burdett, Staten, Levi, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mark V., Thomas J.

1864, Aug 4: Contract for mineral rights on land of John Jarrett located on Elk River 1/8 mile below and about same distance above Middle Branch (mouth of??) 100 acres on which I now reside. Witness Benj. Eastwood, B.H. Hudson. NOTE: No way of knowing WHICH John Jarrett this is except by location could be descendant of Owen (son of James), Abraham (of James), or David (brother of James). 1864, Dec 27: Deed ELI & NANCY JARRETT and SQUIRE & SARAH JARRETT sell to JOHN JARRETT all of Kanawha Co for $1 on south side of Elk River being part of Snuffer survey held by heirs of OWEN JARRETT, dec'd 93 1/4 acres on Bank of Elk down river south to mouth of Buffalo Lick (all 4 sign). (Kanawha Co, WV Deed Bk Y:468) Not certain WHICH John is buying. But these are all brothers.
