Biography

Joseph Jeansonne is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 4 Left. He is listed as a single head of household.[1]
4 May 1777 : Census - Opelousas, St. Landry, LA.[2] He married Scholastique Leger after the census; he is listed as a bachelor, age 29.
7 June 1777: Joseph JANSONNE was conscripted into the Opelousas Militia.[3]
15 April 1785 : Census - Opelousas, St. Landry, LA[4]
On 15 July 1787 "Joseph Jeanssone" sponsored the baptism of his nephew and namesake Joseph Jansonne. He died after that date. [5]
