Biography

UEL Badge
Michael Carman was a United Empire Loyalist.
UEL Status:Proven
Date: Undated

Michael Kermann, 1708 - 1788, he emigrated to the 13 colonies in 1750, with his wife, his son Michael Jr., and daughter Mary. By 1758 they were settled in the Mohawk Valley, near Johnstown as a tenant of Sir William Johnson's[1]

  • From the Carmen History prepared by Douglas Clarke, 1971:

Left NY 1784 to Matilda as UEL. Carman grand was lot 21, east half held by Mrs. Martin Walter, west by Michael. The Carman Road which ran from the tip of Point Iroq. to the 2nd Conc. formed the boundary between the two halves. This road, still called by that name, has always marked the west boundary of Iroquois." Both Michael and Margardt are buried east of Iroquois in Anglican Cemetery.

Research Note

Michael Kermann could not be the son of Maria Magd. Walter!! She died in 1733. So Michael must have annother mother !!!

Hi,

Michael Kermann could not be the son of Maria Magd. Walter!! She died in 1733. So Michael must have annother mother !!!

Please check and correct it!

Thank you

According to his profile, his father was married to Magdalena Zier in 1740, so I changed his mother to her. No real sources identifying his family before his migration though.
