DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

The George Lackey who died in 1808 in Iredell Co. North Carolina I believe to be the father of William, Thomas and George who married the 3 Stepenson/Stevenson sisters.

Rationale: In the early land records there is listed a George Lackey, Sr owning land adjacent to George Lackey, Jr. There are land records that indicate George Lackey, Jr has land next to George Lackey, Sr. These land records are at a time where there would be no children of the 3 brothers, William, Thomas and George, old enough to have land in their names. Therefore the George Lackey. Jr in the early land records I believe to be George, brother to William and Thomas. It is evident that the George Lackey, Sr in the early land records would be of an older generation of the 3 brothers. Adding to this, the 1808 Iredell Co. NC Estate records of George Lackey show that William, Thomas and George were present at the estate sale buying property of the estate. They are also listed as executors of the estate. There has been erroneous information published for several years as to who the parents of William, Thomas and George are. The John William Lackey being erroneously listed as their father is wholly guess work of overly zealous researchers. The children in John William Lackey's family does not match the ages of William, Thomas and George, the brothers. Also, DNA results have proven that my ancestor, George Lackey, born about 1800, died about 1864 in Arkansas is probably the son of William Lackey, brother of Thomas and George. My George Lackey is shown to be a cousin to the children of Thomas and George Lackey. It is also documented that my George Lackey and other children of William Lackey were in close proximity during their migration form North Carolina to Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. My George Lackey was a shoemaker as was Amos Burrell Lackey, son of Amos and grandson of William Lackey. In addition, it was reported by earlier Lackey researchers that George Lackey, son of William, went west, hence his trail of information connecting him to other children of William. If there is "proof" through documentation of the George Lackey of this profile is the son of William Lackey, brother to Thomas and George, I would very much like to be informed of it. Thank you. Looking forward to finding the documentation.
