Biography

Lovard Needham Lee was born on September 25, 1791 to Godfrey Lee and Elizabeth Stevens in Johnston County, North Carolina.

He married Elizabeth McNair (daughter of Gilbert McNair of Cochram, Georgia) . Their children were:

  1. Elizabeth Lee
  2. Susan Lee, 1816–1885
  3. Lovard W or L. Lee Jr 1817–1896
  4. Godfrey N. Lee 1819–1887
  5. Mary S Lee 1821–
  6. Needham G Lee
  7. Winifred Lee 1827–
  8. Sarah Lee McEachern 1830–1884
  9. Janet Lee 1842–
  10. Lewis J Lee 1847–

He married Sarah J. Polk on June 26, 1859 in Barbour County, Alabama.[1] (She married a second time to J. M. Danford). Their children were:

  1. Emily Malissa Lee Tew, 1862–1947
  2. Susie A. Lee Hartzog, 1866–1914
  3. Columbus C Lee, 1869–1939[2]

He died, at the age of 79, on November 1, 1870 in Eufaula, Alabama. He is buried at the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Barbour County, Alabama.[3]

Karen, be careful using the Alabama Surname Expanded, I downloaded it and it also has the Lee lines mixed up, it refers to Richard and Judith Steptoe Lee. Just be careful.
