Biography

Elizabeth Lefevre was born about between 1709 - 1714 in King William, King William, Virginia, Colonial America, daughter of Isaac Lefevre (Isaac Lefarre 1605 - 1646) and Magdalene Madeline Paranteau (abt. 1612 - 1646). Sister of Judith LeFevre. She is the wife of James Bryant Sr. They married 16 May 1732 in Powathan County, Virginia. James Bryant II was born 1709 in Albemarle County, Virginia, USA and died 1783 in Chestnut Oaks, Powhatan County, Virginia, Colonial America.

She served as godmother for Isaac Dupuy. She died about 1740 in King William, Goochland, Virginia, Colonial America.

Her husband, James Bryant (II) was of "Huguenot descent." His father Jacques Briand (James Bryant I) emigrated from England to Virginia before 1700 and settled in Manaintown, Virginia about 1703. Her husband, James Bryant (II) served in the Revolutionary War at Guilford Courthouse Battle, March 24, 1781, along with his brother, Isaac Bryant.

He was a large land and slave owner. A member of the Court and Secretary of King William Parish, Virginia. His home was located on Jones Creek near the mouth of Dutoy Creek in Powathan County, Virginia. He owned lands near Midlothian and Chesterfield Counties. During the Revolutionary War, coal was mined from these lands.

He was highly respected and an influential citizen of the section of Virginia.

Thank You Ann Risso. Lefevre 212 is valid as is but LeFever 218 is an entirely different person and may be incorrect as currently shown with different birth place, husband, etc.. Thus these should not be merged

The same is true for Briand 112. To the best of my knowledge there never was an O'Bryan marrying anyone in the Briand/Bryant or Virginia LeFevre line. The Cameron article is an excellent source by a well known biographer/genealogist. Likewise, Briand 29 is a validated entry. Brian 337 is an incorrect entry since clearly there were no refugees in Manakintown prior to 1699-1700

Thanks, Michael. It does seem as though one of the profiles for Elisabeth (Lefevre-212) is accurate, and the other one (LeFever-218) wasn’t. (Likewise Briand-112 is correct and O'Bryan-240 needs to be updated.) It looks like the problem with LeFever-218 is that it was conflated with LeFevre-106. I just updated LeFever-218 and LeFevre-106 as much as possible. I'm confident that there weren't two couples in Manakin Town with almost the same names.

The beauty of the merge process is that anyone has 30 days after a merge is proposed to explain the information on a profile and reject the merge (and can undo any changes made to profiles at any time, if necessary).

There are so many duplicate profiles and confused information for members of the Le Fevre family/families, which is understandable because there were so many of them, and there is a lot of interest in them. I’d like to try to help fix as many of them as possible, so we can understand what’s going on.

I think that the two profiles for Elisabeth le Fevre (Lefevre-212 and LeFever-218 need to be merged. Lefevre should be the final last name as it is the same as her father’s last name.

The two profiles for her husband Briand-112 and O'Bryan-240 should also be merged. Briand should be the final last name, as it is likely closer of the two to his original name (maybe Brian rather than Briand?) before it was Americanized (variants Brian and Bryan found, but “O’Bryan” not yet found at all).

According to "Isaac Lefebure (Lefevre) of Manakin Town & His Immediate Descendants," Cameron Allen, (Virginia Magazine of History & Biography): “Elizabeth Lefévre, born about 1712, married by 1732 to JACQUES BRIAN. She died in King William Parish, Goochland County, Virginia, sometime between July 1740 and 1744.” See http://www.bmgen.com/document/pdf/VA_HIST_SOC_Isaac_Lefebure_James_Briant.pdf.

Last, I think the profile for Briand-29 should be merged with Brian-337.

The profiles for his wife/wives, Vermeill-2 and Briand-34, need review.

As Ken Wise pointed out on the profile for Briand-112, the differences in these profiles seem to be name variations.

Elizabeth LeFevre's father was Isaac LeFevre who is often described as the Virginia Lefevre. The Isaac Lefevre who settled in Pennsylvania is a different person and should not be confused with the Virginia Isaac LeFevre who died about 1720 in Virginia.

Check your history of Pennsylvania and Virginia to find boundaries for that time period. State lines moved like the people in 16 & 1700's.

LeFarre-3 and Lefevre-212 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person. Care should be taken to merge LeFarre-3 (wrong name) into correct last name and correct profile: Lefevre-212. Thank you.

Elizabeth LeFevre LeFarre is not the wife of James Bryant Bryant-905. She should be FIRST detached from this Bryant-905 and all his children.

Secondly, her biography should be completely cancelled.

Then she should be merged into:

This solves a lot of mysteries!

Do you all agree?
