Joseph was born in Canada in 1810[1]. He was the son of Joseph McCool and Sarah Walker.
Family genealogists report that Joseph married two (and possibly three) times. He had children with at least two women. The first mother of his children is usually reported as Elizabeth L Davis (1814-1846); they were said to be married on 24 Dec 1833. They are believed to have had three daughters together (see 1851 Census below).
Joseph married 2nd (or possibly 3rd) Emma Wilson (1827-1898), on 17 May 1848.

Joseph passed away in 1888. He's buried in the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, Michigan.[1]
