Most of my known ancestors are Irish with common names so research is difficult. Currently I've been concentrating on the County Clare part of my tree trying to figure out how people who have DNA that matches with me are related.

Biography

In the 1950 census Joan (age 1) was the daughter of John McInerney in New York, Queens, New York, United States.[1]

My earliest memories are of living in Ravenswood in Long Island City. I spent hours playing in the little playground behind the apartment house. I also spent hours in the public library across the street. We moved to Farmingdale while I was still in elementary school. Eventually I went to the College of Saint Rose in Albany, met my future husband, moved to Owego to teach and have been here ever since. I like living in a small town although I like to travel also.

How do I remove an image that I uploaded to the profile of one of my cousins? She doesn't like the photo and sent me one she does like. I made that image the primary image, but I'd like to remove from Wikitree the photo she doesn't like.

Thanks Mickey. I appreciate the feedback. I'm glad I can continue as I have been doing. The thing is that I already have an Ancestry tree that consists of about 3000 people. Not all of my sources came from Ancestry but the American ones did. So I am at the beginning of a very long process as I copy the research that I already did over multiple years to WikiTree as best I can. If I had to do the research all over again, I couldn't begin to attempt this process. From the comparison tool it looks as if most of my tree isn't already on WikiTree. I have questions about what to do with some of the matches I did find, but I'll set them aside until I get to those people on my tree.

Hi Joan,

You are doing great! I love your Mom's smile in her picture and Annie's hat is wonderful. And, best of all you are doing a good job with your sources. The most important thing about a source is that you give enough information that someone can quickly find it which you are doing.

This is an fyi, not something you have to change. You will see many people using sources from FamilySearch.org. There are two reasons for this, while you have to register, there is no paywall and they do a better job of formating the source for you:

FamilySearch:

"New York State Census, 1925," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KSWF-RX2 : 8 November 2014), Stanley Rajewski, Buffalo Ward 10, A.D. 05, E.D. 02, Erie, New York, United States; records extracted by Ancestry and images digitized by FamilySearch; citing p. 44, line 16, New York State Archives, Albany.

Ancestry: Detail New York State Archives; Albany, New York; State Population Census Schedules, 1925; Election District: 02; Assembly District: 05; City: Buffalo Ward 10; County: Erie; Page: 44 Edit source Source information Title New York, State Census, 1925 Author Ancestry.com

That being said, FamilySearch does not have all the records that Ancestry does and there are things that Ancestry does do better.
