Biography

Frances was born about 1775 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. [1] Her parents were Joab Meador and Sarah Atkinson. [2]

On 16 November 1790 in Pittsylvania County Virginia, Frances married Joel Willis. [3]
Their children, as named in Joel's Will: [4]

  1. John William Willis (1791-1849)
  2. Samuel Willis (1794-1879)
  3. Sarah (Willis) Colley (1796-1881) [5]
  4. Nancy (Willis) Atkinson (1799-1876) [6]

The Willis family can be found in the census records of Pittsylvania County Virginia in 1820. [7]

Sometime after the 1821 marriage of daughter Nancy , the family left Virginia and settled in Missouri. They can be found in the census records of Pike County Missouri in 1830, [8] 1840, [9], and 1850. [10]

Frances died after 1857 in Pike County, Missouri. [11]

Is there a source for this death date? When Joab Meador wrote his will in 1815 he included Frances as one of his children to receive an equal share of his estate after the death of his wife.
