Anne Marguerite Metra was born on May 7, 1767 in Garo, Bretagne, France, daughter of Jean Metra and exiled Acadian Marguerite Bourg. She was baptized the same day in Pleudihen, Bretagne (today Côtes-d'Armor), France. [2]

On 17 May 1785, in Saint-Martin parish of Chantenay, France, she married Claude François Boudeloche, a Frenchman, son of François Boudeloche and Anne Douet. [4] The witnesses were Francois Baudeloche, father of the groom, Jean Metra father of the bride, Ignace Hamon uncle of the bride, Cecile Jean Bourque, cousin of the bride, Joseph Henry also uncle by mariage of the bride.
Anne-Marguerite, age 18, and her parents, were on the embarkation list of the ship L'Amitié that left France in August 1785 and reached New Orleans in November after three long months at sea. Her husband Claude François also traveled on L'Amitié with them, but only appeared on the debarkation list. [5]
