There is confusion across many family trees and family tree sites with Etienne Michauds of this era. Some trees and sites have Etienne with two spouses. Some have an Etienne with parents Pierre Michaud and Marie Madeleine Cadeau married to one of those spouses. Others have Etienne Michaud with parents Francois Michaud and Marie Dionne marrying another of those spouses. This confusion seems likely the result of an error in Tanguay Volume: Vol. 6[1] that incorrectly lists Etienne's parents as Francois Michaud and Marie Dionne. Francois Michaud and Marie Dionne did not have a son Etienne.
As discussed below and verified with sources, Etienne Michaud was married first to Jeanne Chasse, and after Jeanne's death he married Marie Catherine Nadeau. To that end, images are included of source documents such as parish and notary records that establish proven dates. Etienne's birth date, marriage date to Jeanne Chasse, and death date are shown. Etienne then married Marie Nadeau and the notarial records is shown. He had several children with Marie. They would include Etienne (b 1752), Euphrosine (b 1753), Jean Baptiste (b 1754), Germain (b 1755), and twins Marie Francois and Alexis (b 1756).
Etienne died in 1756 at 28 years old.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Etienne by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Etienne:
Michaud-595 and Michaud-228 appear to represent the same person because: Michaud-595 had the wrong parents, but the right spouse and children. Michaud-595 should be merged with Michaud-228
The Nos Origines record for Image 4 is now different and does not show a daughter of Denis Nadeau/Elizabeth Roy marrying an Etienne Michaud. The image should probably be removed. The Tanguay reference mentioned is just one of those Tanguay mistakes - Francois Michaud and Marie Dionne did not have a son Etienne.
Two sources, the "Genealogie Quebec" and "Quebec, Genealogical Dictionary of Canadian Families (Tanguay Collection), 1608-1890" are in conflict with each other. One (Genealogie Quebec) shows one Etienne (son of Pierre) as married to both Marie Catherine Nadeau and Jeanne Baptiste Chasse. The other (Quebec, Genealogical Dictionary...) shows this Etienne (son of Francois, who is Pierre's brother) married to Jeanne Baptiste Chasse, while a second Etienne (Pierres son) is married to Marie Catherine Nadeau. I believe the "Quebec, Genealogical Dictionary..." to be correct.
