I found out about WikiTree from a cousin Joan and Gina Meyers, FTDNA admin. I became interested in genealogy in 2013 after my mom and sister did some research on my mothers side. I have a public tree on Ancestry where I did my first DNA test. I learned a lot about my mothers Carmichael and Mercer lines going back in Scotland and Ireland. Joan convinced me to test with FamilyTree DNA searching for our Myers ancestors. In 2016 I tested at Y-37, later Y-111, then January this year I upgraded to the Big Y-700. My Haplogroup started as RM-198 then went to R-BY67620 a little later. I had searched a few times for ancestors on WikiTree before signing in. I decided to dig a little deeper, so created my login. I am interested in more information on my DNA match, Ulrich Moyer, d. 1742, My exact match thru Y-37 to Y-111. I convinced my match person to upgrade to the Big Y 700. His test results came back a few days ago, at 700 markers we are a two step match. His Haplogroup is still RM-198, so hopefully it will be upgraded and narrow the field. I have three other matches at the 700 level. Abraham Myers, b. 1776, d.1821, Abraham Myers, b. 1730, d. 1791, & Johnnies Myers, b. 1750, d. 1825. One match at Y-67 is Christian Moyer, b. 1706, d. 1784. I am at a dead end on my Ancestry Tree with my second great grandfather, Jacob Myers, b. 7 Dec 1787, Pennsylvania, d. 31 Jan 1862, Dover twp, York County, PA. It appears most of my ancestors immigrated from SW of Zurich to Germany, then to SE Pennsylvania. I have joined the Myers Group on FTDNA and conversed with Gina frequently. Any other information or ideas will be appreciated. Robert (Bob) Myers [email address removed]
