James Richard Phillips was born on 15 Oct 1863 at Mintaro, South Australia, son of Joseph Albert Phillips and Elizabeth Jane Bruce[1].
James married Mary Ann/Anna Maria Jeffrey (1858-1945) between 1882 to 1887. [citation needed]
Mary Ann (Anna Maria) had been previously married in 1880, lost a two month old infant that year and then seven weeks after the birth of her second child Ernst Friedrich/Fred (1882-1959) was admitted to the "Adelaide Lunatic Asylum" for "Puerperal mania".
James and Mary Ann had six children, all born at Waterloo in South Australia except for the eldest James:
James passed away on 7 Aug 1949 in Riverton in South Australia, at which time his residence was Waterloo. [2] James is presumably buried at the Waterloo Methodist Cemetery in Waterloo, South Australia. [3]
