Nathan was born on 22 Aug 1760 [1], or 2 Aug 1760 [2] in Pasquotank County, North Carolina to Samuel Pike and Sarah Overman. (Sources disagree on his Date of Birth)

He died on 13 Jun 1844 (aged 83) in Pikeville, Wayne County, North Carolina. Nathan was probably buried at Nahunta Friends Cemetery or one of the Pike family plots in or near Pikeville. No headstone exsists.[2]

Be it remembered, this 20th of the third month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-one
I, Nathan Pike, Sen., of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina, in perfect, sound, and disposing mind and memory, do make, ordain, and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following
Viz
First – I give to my beloved wife Rachel Pike three hundred dollars in spicee, one bed stead, and furniture her choice, also one chest to her and heirs forever, also all the wheat, sweeting and coffee that is on hand, and as much other provisions as she and my executors may think sufficient to serve her the remainder of the year
Secondly – It is my will and desire that one thousand dollars of my estate be kept at interest and the interest arising therefrom be paid to her annually during her life. After the death of my said wife it is my will and desire that my son Mark have five hundred dollars of the above named thousand dollars. Also my flax hackle, one hone and my wearing appearel, to him and his heirs forever
Item – I give and bequeath to my five grandchildren heirs of Josiah Musgrave, dec’t (Viz) Micajah, Louisy, Sallyan, Mary, and Caroline Musgrave, the other five hundred dollars of the above thousand dollars after the death of my beloved wife to be equally divided among them, to them and their heirs forever, if either should be in minority its portion be divided among its own brothers and sisters
Item – I give to my son Jonathan Pike one pair large steelyards. I also give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Charity Pike my Beaureau
The ballance of my moveable property not heretofore lent or given away be sold on a six months credit the notes arising therefrom together with all my notes I may have in possession and money if any more on hand not heretofore give away after paying expenses and commissions to be divided in six equal parts, one sixth part of this to be equally divided between the heirs of Sally Cox, Decs’t (Viz) Micajah Cox, Chelly, William, Achsah, Sally, Absillit, and Mary Cox to them and their heirs forever, the other five parts to be equally divided between my five daughters (Viz) Absillit Edgerton, Mary Edgerton, Rachel Perkins, Avcy Musgrave, and Arcada Cox to them and their heirs forever.
My will is that my executor shall have two and a half percent commission on my estate
Lastly, I nominate and appoint my son Marke Pike, William Cox and Thos. Edgerton Executors to this my last will and testament revocking and annulling all other and former wills by me made ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date before written

Then was the above will of Nathan Pike produced in open court and offered for probate & duly proved by the affirmation of Elijah Coleman & Jesse Coleman the two subscribing witness thereto let it be recorded. At the same time Mark Pike & Wm. Edgerton two of the executors therein named appeared in open court & qualified as executors thereto ordered that letters testimentary issue to said Mark Pike & Wm Edgerton Jno. A. Green, Clerk
