Rachel married Philip Squire.[3][2] No record of their marriage had been found. Their marriage is established by, among other evidence, a 1668 deed by Rachel's father George Ruggles to Philip Squire "in consideration of fatherly love and affection to daughter Rachel, wife of Philip Squier of Boston, distiller."[4] Based on the date of birth of their first child (January 1665/6), they were probably married in 1664 or early 1665.[3][2] Since Rachel's family was living in Boston during that time period,[5] they were probably married in Boston.[3]
Rachel and Philip had the following children, all born in Boston:
Grizell, b. May 14, 1668, m. about 1690 James Wheeler in Boston, d. before September 1738 in Rehoboth. (See discussion and sources in Grizell's profile.)
Although Rachel's husband Philip Squire was a firm Baptist by the late 1670s,[12] evidence indicates that, at least in the early 1670s, Rachel was not, as she had son Philip and daughter Jane baptized at the First Church of Boston shortly after their births in 1672[9] and 1674,[11] respectively. The baptismal records state that the children were the children of "sister Squire", indicating the Rachel, but not her husband Philip, were members of that church, which was the Puritan church in Boston.
Death
Rachel's date and place of death are uncertain. She died sometime after November 8, 1681 when her last child was born and before March 1682/3, when her husband Philip married his second wife.[12] Since son Ebenzer was born in Boston in 1681 and husband Philip Squire's primary residence appears to have been Boston until his death, Rachel probably died in Boston.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rachel by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rachel:
Ruggles-1357 and Ruggles-82 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate accidentally (?) created. Spouse and child also duplicated and need merging.
