Mr. Robert Sabey, a well-known resident of Tailem Bend, died suddenly at his home at midnight on Saturday, at the age of 68. He appeared to be in his usual health when he retired. During the night he got out of bed to obtain a glass of water for his wife, who for some time has been unwell. Upon returning with the water he remarked he was going out again, but when he reached the door way he collapsed. Dr. Moorhouse, who was called in, pronounced life extinct. Mr. Sabey was highly respected in the Wellington and Tailem Bend district, where he had lived for 50 years. He was a justice of the peace and a firm friend of the aborigines along the river.
