From Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania:

On the original list of passengers (Pennsylvania Archives, Vol. KVII, Second Series, pages 72-73) his name is given as Sebastian and Bastian, and his wife's name as Catarina, In a secluded spot, in a field on the farm of the late Jacob Nuss, at Koch's schoolhouse, in Upper Milford township, Lehigh Co., Pa., lie the remains of this pioneer and Revolutionary war soldier and his wife. He is called "Captain" Truckenmiller. For the benefit of their many descendants a verbatim copy of the inscriptions on their tombstones is herewith given:" NOTE: The surname Schmuckbrucken is sometimes given as Schambach and Schambaugh.

To Be Researched

The original post says that Catharina and Sebastian were married in 1742 in Germany. However, if the immigration record for Sebastion is correct, he emigrated in 1732 at age 17. No record has been found to indicate that he returned to Germany at any time. So, questions include:

  • Were they married earlier than 1732 in Germany (when very young) or after 1732 in Pennsylvania?
  • Has the incorrect immigration record been associated with this Sebastian Truckenmiller? Possibly the marriage date is correct and they emigrated after 1742.
