Biography

Wilhelmina's name was spelled a variety of ways. It appears as Wiligammine in her husband's military pension record,[1] as Willignina on her son Henry's 1900 marriage record, [2] but as Wilhelmina, the more common spelling, on son Henry's 1897 marriage[3] and on the FindAGrave website.[4] In the records, she was most often named "Minnie."

1831 Minnie was born about 28 Sep 1831.[4]

1856 Minnie immigrated to the USA from Germany about this time.[5]

1870 In July 1870, Minnie and her family lived and farmed in Haney, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA. The household was recorded on the census that year as:

  • Household Role Sex Age Birthplace
  • William Brickner Male 38 Germany
  • Minnie Brickner Female 38 Germany
  • Henry Brickner Male 16 Germany
  • Charles Brickner Male 14 Germany
  • Emiley Brickner Female 11 Wisconsin
  • Clara Brickner Female 9 Wisconsin
  • Mary Brickner Female 8 Wisconsin
  • Magdaline Brickner Female 5 Wisconsin
  • Matilda Brickner Female 1 Wisconsin[6]

1880 Minnie and her family lived in Haney, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA in 1880. Her household comprised:

  • William Brickner Self Male 49 Germany
  • Minnie Brickner Wife Female 43 Germany
  • Henry Brickner Son Male 26 Germany
  • Matilda Brickner Daughter Female 12 Wisconsin, United States[7]

1900 In the 1900 census, Minnie is recorded by her middle name, Emelia. She reported that had 12 pregnancies, but only six of those children were still living. A widow, Minnie was still living on the farm in Haney, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA and named her occupation as a "landlady." Her son Henry lived with her and worked the farm.[5]

1905 Wilhelmina Brickner died about 18 Mar 1905 and was laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Zion, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA.[4]
