James died February 1, 1804, in Pittsboro, Chatham county, North Carolina. His Find A Grave has biographies of nine known children, who migrated to Tennessee, receiving land grants for their service in the American Revolutionary War. [3]
Although his Find A Grave indicates that James was born in Duplin county, originally a part of New Hanover County, Duplin was annexed and established on April 7, 1750
